I spoke about cracking down on hardcore pornography on an elementary school's festival. Then I legalized prositution, child work and all kind of drugs. I also abolished the minimum wage and all kinds of security measures. Then I built a moon base.
Basically, I did everything to bring the country down. And almost 15% of the States voted for me. Tonight, I learned a lot about the glorious USA.
Well, before that I also played as Obama. According to a watching American this simulation is somewhat realistic. Some of the events in this game really happened and most of the promises have really been made. The game gives you information about the different promises (including Wikipedia-links) and tells you which ones have been made by the democrats or the republicans, given you're playing as one of them.
Playing as a third party is basically a hardcore mode. Maybe you can actually win if you're really good at this.
If you play this game seriously, it can be quite educational and exciting. On higher difficulties it's pretty challenging and there's also a multiplayer mode which seems to be pretty fun.

Honestly, this game is very fun and rather hilarious when playing with either friends or family. When playing alone, or with a random person it isn't that fun unless you're into politics. This game is pretty underrated.

Will start this review with the fact I'm Australian and don't completely grasp US politics.
The Race for the White House is a more casual minded election simulation game. Candidates make their way across the country giving promises, holding rallys and generally trying to undermine your opponent. Largely it's a spreadsheet game based on balance, so if those don't interest you I would look elsewhere. Very much casual focused as mentioned, but the game does contain quite a large volume of multiple choice responses to questions held during debates and on political policies. Can be amusing calling in bomb scares before rallies and destroying your opponents online reputation.
If you enjoy political simulation and keep in mind the nature of the game it's worth at least a second look. $10~ would be far more appealing as it's a niche product with a few rough edges. Did suffer some sound clipping issues, which may have been related to xvid not being completely installed.
Checkout my full campaign playthrough if you are still not sure. Cheers.

It's okay, but could use more features, like a character editor.
Pick it up in a bundle or at a massive discount, and it should be good for about an hour of fun per game.

So this game isnt a good presidential election game, but the meme value is worth its weight in gold. Funhaus did a playthrough of this game and its exactly how you should play it, so if you want a political simulator, dont buy the game.
Its a sand box of, "How would it be to run as the worst person alive, promote cultist level policies, while also running with the third party called "The Whiskey D*ck Party", and actually winning the state of Alabama, because... Alabama. The mechanics are funnier than sh*t and the voice lines are robotic enough to make Cortana think their a Russian agent.
If you are looking to buy this game, buy it when it is less money and for the humor value.

I've made several candidates for this game, and unless I join either the Dems or the Reps I can't win a goddamn election on the "Realistic" setting. I'VE GOTTEN CLOSE, but no cigars to be seen.
10/10, I fucking love this goddamn game.
