The story of Cal Kestis continues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor™, a third-person, galaxy-spanning, action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. This narratively driven, single-player title picks up 5 years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™ and follows Cal’s increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness. Pushed to the edges of the galaxy by the Empire, Cal will find himself surrounded by threats new and familiar. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Cal is driven to make a stand during the galaxy’s darkest times — but how far is he willing to go to protect himself, his crew, and the legacy of the Jedi Order?

Good with mods, devs don't deserve full price

Alright, anyone on the fence on buying read this.
The game is optimized by EA HORRIBLY, BUT- the community has improved the game performance dramatically.
There are two essential performance mods that give me smooth 60fps on Koboh (the worst performing planet for everyone) and over 100 frames in other areas.
1. SWJS- Fixes and improvements
2. Native resolution and blurry screen fix
^^These two are a must for playable gameplay. I went from 40-55 fps on Koboh on High settings (no RT) and massive stuttering to 60s-70s with the mods and the 100s when I enabled Frame Gen.
3. No more TAA and native resolution
Jedi survivor doesn't natively use your full resolution, this mod fixes that.
4. The annoying shader compilation that happens every boot can be toggled off by this mod:
Specs-
Ryzen 5 5600x
Xfx Speedster 6700
96gb of RAM
Various m.2 drives and SSDS (game is installed on an SSD)

Don't get me wrong, The PC release of this game was terrible. So I chose to wait for the game to be patched. Now 5 months later I bought the game on sale and played through it till the end. I experienced only 1 or 2 minor glitches my entire play-through, all of which being graphical, the game-play was flawless. I don't have insane PC specs either.
After experiencing everything STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor has to offer, I can truly say it's a fantastic game. This game had made some fantastic improvements to it's story, mechanics, graphics, combat etc compared to it's predecessor STAR WAR JEDI: Fallen Order. I would go into to detail but honestly I think it's best you buy it and play it for yourself spoiler-free like I did. All my issues with the game itself are far to minor and nit-picky to mention.
Though I praise this game for how fun it is, Game Developers should NEVER be forced (or consider) to release an UNFINISHED GAME. I only had a good experience because I waited FIVE MONTHS AFTER RELEASE. These companies are getting way to comfortable releasing unfinished games to make a dead-line or a quick buck. Just delay it. I'd prefer a late game than an unfinished one. Take the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for example. That game was delayed AN ENTIRE YEAR OF IT'S INTENDED RELEASE and it turned out fantastic as a result. Because of this games terrible release it's basically stripped it of it's spot as a GOTY Nominee. I wouldn't expect it to win but damn the Resident Evil 4 !!REMAKE!! beat it to the nominee's. Not that RE4 Remake is a bad game (it's actually super fun) but damn it's gotta hurt losing to a game that was initially released in 2005.
7.7/10 - Buy it on sale, it's not worth that $100 price tag. But if you do manage to get it on sale. It's 100% worth your money.

Bought on sale as a combo deal with Fallen order, roughly $35 bux. Highly recommend at that price point. The early reviews turned me off, and the second time I noticed a price drop to the $30 range, I finally had enough confidence to take the risk on an EA game, despite past bad experiences.
That said, I do recommend picking this game up at some point, if you are a star wars fan generally, or want to know the continuation of Cal Kestis's journey as a survivor. This game is absolutely worth the $35 price point, but I would not pay full price due to that being encouragement to EA that their intolerable management of games is anything north of acceptable, as it clearly isnt.
That said, after about 15 hours playtime it is a good/enjoyable game. Graphics and controls are universally an improvement over the 1st game, and the story so far is decentlyl written, though weak in a few places (Deus ex machina and other weak plot devices apparent).
Buy this at half price. DO not buy at full price unless you have stupid people money, in which case you probably already did and are not reading this review in the first place. May the force be with you.

I nearly refunded this for experiencing consistent stuttering/lag despite showing 110-140 FPS. Stuttering in a fast-paced game like this is an absolute headache... but I found my fix.
Before refunding for stuttering issues, try seeing if this works for you:
1) Change settings via NVIDIA Control Panel:
Navigate to NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
☑ Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
☑ Threaded optimization: on
☑ Triple buffering: on
☑ Vertical sync: on
2) Change JediSurvivor.exe compatibility settings
Navigate to Steam Folder > Jedi Survivor > SwGame > Binaries > Win64 > Right click on JediSurvivor.exe > "Properties" > Compatibility
☑ Disable fullscreen optimizations
☑ Run this program as an administrator
☑ Change high DPI settings > override high DPI behavior by: Application
3) Change Graphics settings in-game
☑ Fullscreen
☑ Ray-tracing: off
☑ AMD Fidelity Fx: Quality
I noticed an immediate difference with these settings. I'm achieving 110+ FPS on Epic settings with DLSS off.
Specs: RTX 4090, i9 13900K, 32gb ram, 5gb/s m.2 SSD.
The game is pretty nice without the lag, so hopefully this helps someone. If I experience crashes/further stuttering, I'll update this review.
