I enjoy Movie themed games and I like Kairosoft, so this was a win-win for me. The game is pitched quite fairly and it's not too hard to get 100% completion - or at least for me it wasn't. The key for me was increasing the movie theatres that your films are shown in, and also the support buildings so you can increase your revenue.
As mentioned, you are in charge of a movie studio which you need to build up like a cruise ship / ski resort / etc, etc. You hire film makers and movie stars and use them to make films, which make you money which you invest in money making buildings (e.g. Restaurant, Gift Shops), locations (River, Japanese House) which you can film at and also make money for you and also Technical buildings (Actor Studio, Recording Studio) which increase the quality of your films. And so you make better films that make more money and generate a larger fanbase for the future. Repeat and so climb further up the rankings.
Another fun thing I liked was you could rename the actors and directors. So my Theatre had William Powell and Myrna Loy, Al Pacino, Sandra Bullock, Alfred Hitchcock, and others in it. I even had Jason Statham and Steven Segal for those low budget (almost) straight to video films that I would make in between my high budget ones.
Overall I'd rate this higher than most of the other Kairosoft games - but maybe that's because I like the subject matter and it wasn't too hard to succeed at. I liked it above Forest Camp Story, March to a Million and Baseball Story for example. If it goes on sale, then definitely snap it up.

HOLY constant interruptions, Batman!
good game, but every time you try to click on anything, an actor, staff, a building, money, idea points, you're endlessly interrupted by your Secretary.
I'm like: "Please, for the love of God, leave me alone. I'm trying to play the game, and your blathering about literally everything all the time. May I please upgrade the Music studio? Or hire a new Director?"
"NOPE. here's more un-skippable text"
"Why aren't you making more movies"
"Because you are literally interrupting me every four nanoseconds. " STOP SOTP STOP STOP
I don't want to recommend this game, but I have to because the world needs more MOVIE-STUDIO sims like this.
