Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster
Be prepared to relive the first nightmare in Resident Evil 0, a remastered version of the popular prequel to the original Resident Evil game. This remastered version takes the fear-inducing atmosphere from the original 2002 release and transforms it with stunning new HD visuals, improved sound, widescreen support and an optional modernized control system and more. It’s the best way to experience the story of what really happened before the iconic mansion incident that was the catalyst for the entire Resident Evil saga. The story of Resident Evil 0 takes players back to 1998. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team – including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers – to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle.

Before you start playing it.
Install this. You will thank me later.
Stopped playing it due to no item box.
But this mod came out, it's much more enjoyable to play it now. :)

this resident sure is evil

This is an old-school Resident Evil game at heart, when 'survival' was still a key factor of the series.
Zero features limited ammo, savings ribbons, and a lot of decision-making, mostly related to inventory management.
This is especially true given the zapping, as at any point a character could be forced to fight a boss without the help of another, so making sure both cast members are fully equipped is key to your success.
Gameplay on the steam deck:
Let's be honest, if you still want to experience exactly how the previous Resident Evil games played, then it's best to go for the Resident Evil Remake.
The Remake is not only a lot sharper and scarier, but also knows how to shake up a catchier story.
Resident Evil Zero HD feels more like a warm-up, which plays it safe not to spoil the taste of the main course.
Fun for Resident Evil fans and certainly worth it for those who crave a fresh dose of nostalgia after playing the Resident Evil Remake, but anything but a necessary experience. Old horror in an attractive new jacket, however, remains a formula that we are in favor of.

There's zero chances that the residents might be evil

If there had been an item box, or even just two more inventory slots, many reviews of this game would have been much more positive.

The real horror is the inventory system.

Beginning is rough. Getting used to the old 2000s gameplay, you can aim only at 1 direction, up and down and then slowly turn around. Fixed camera.. Oh boy. But further you go further you are invested in a really good story and even get used to the old style of gameplay.
Playing it on anything but easy difficult seems way too frustrating and just unnecesary.
7/10. You must play it to understand the whole story!
