Nidhogg 2: Grotesquely Engaging Sword-Fighting Mayhem
Okay, let's talk about Nidhogg 2. Now, I gotta be honest right off the bat – the art style is not everyone's cup of tea. It's a bit grotesque, to say the least. The clay-like characters mixed with some weirdly gross visuals might not be your thing, but you know what? It's oddly memorable.
The gameplay hasn't changed much from the first game, and that's a good thing. It's still that "easy to learn, difficult to master" deal. With just two buttons, you can unleash a variety of moves, from sword-throwing to dive-kicking. It's like a beautiful blend of fencing and tug-of-war.
Now, Nidhogg 2 doesn't hold back in the weapons department. You've got rapiers, daggers, broadswords, and even a bow. It adds a layer of strategy to the fights, and sometimes, you'll end up in ridiculous arrow-tennis matches.
The environments are more diverse this time around, with conveyer belts, high and low ground, and rooms within rooms. It keeps you on your toes, adapting your tactics on the fly. And let me tell you, it's an absolute blast to fight your way through these crazy settings.
But here's the thing – the new art style might grow on you as you play. Sure, it's a bit less clear than the original, but it brings a certain cartoonish charm to the brutal battles. Squashing your opponent into a colorful goop is gross, yes, but it's also oddly amusing.
When it comes to multiplayer, Nidhogg 2 is pure gold. It's an absolute riot when you've got friends or family members to play with. The single-player part is a bit lackluster, and online play can suffer from lag. But let's be real, this game shines brightest when you're squaring off against friends, laughing, playing mind games and yelling as you fight each other.

First played on the PS5, immediately went home and bought it on my Xbox One. Then, I beat that and came over here to buy it again. YES IT IS THAT GOOD OKAY
It may say I have 2.5 hours played, but in my heart (and on other consoles) I've played many, many hours more.

A great party game. The music, sound effects, and locations are all great. Gameplay takes what nidhogg 1 did and improves upon it. Very fun.
