Legends of Eisenwald is an adventure game with tactical battles, RPG and strategy elements. Take the lead of a small feudal army and try to defend your right to survive in this ruthless medieval world. The mysterious lands of old Germany are waiting for you – it's a land where the superstitions of the time have come to life. This isn’t a fantasy game. There are no elves or dragons here. There are only people – and their passions, sins and fears that often take a tangible form. Which path will you choose? Live according to your conscience? Or live by power and might? Or will you live by justice? And what is your justice, really?

Great game with interesting battle system and satisfying narrative. There are few bugs/imperfections and gameplay can be a little bit clunky but overall it's very good game.

This is a really good game. I am having a blast. Combat is much more nuanced than it first appears. Knowing when to wait, and who to attack when makes a big difference. Also you need to be smart about your equipment to ensure your characters go in the optimal turn order. I like the mechanic of the temporary mercenaries contrasted with your regulars, and the ability to increase your unit size by capturing castles.
It does have its quirks. For instance it took me a couple maps before I realized I could right-click on the upgrade tree to see what each upgrade was before making a decision.
The biggest thing worth noting is that what you carry over from map to map changes. If you don't want an unhappy surprise its worth looking in the guides for information about what you keep each map In general don't expect to keep your soldiers for more than a couple maps.

I have throuroughl;y enjoyed Legends of Eisenwald. I have invested several pleasure hours of my time dedicated towards this game. rich story telling, tight controls, tight tight tight, and graphics you can sink your teeth into. life of eisenwald is more than a game.
it is an experience.

This is the sort of game that I don't personally like that much, but still think it's a decent game if I'm being fair. What I was expecting was a King's Bounty-type SRPG with deep army customization options and light exploration. What I got was a point-and-click adventure RPG with very light strategy elements. It's more basic than even Ascension to the Throne. It even has a a "fast battle" button which allows you to forego all fighting and instantly calculate battle results. The gameplay is really not Eisenwald's forte; anyone who tells you that Eisenwald's gameplay is exceptional has clearly not played that many strategy games.
I might finish this over the next few days (I'm halfway through), but I'm finding myself becoming increasingly frustrated with a case of "where the hell do I go" syndrome. One of my greatest gripes of RPGs is when they make you spend hours wandering around without any progression; it's why I vastly prefer linear SRPGs where exploration is limited and/or straightforward. And yet, Eisenwald is clearly not a strategy game at heart -- it's an ADVENTURE game, so it wouldn't exactly be fair of me to grade it primarily as a strategy game. As an adventure game, it gets the job done, and there's plenty there to enjoy if you like that sort of game.
In terms of narrative, Eisenwald gives too much long text-dumps for my liking, and it's all set in a very generic medieval land, so it's very hard for me to get invested in the story. It's the same problem I have with countless other western RPGs, which all make complete faceplants when it comes to storytelling. (Except for the King's Bounty games, which are overall excellent in every way.) That being said, if you actually enjoy the typical western RPG storytelling conventions, you'll probably have no problem with Eisenwald.
Other people have complained about how the game "resets" your progress after every chapter. I can definitely see how this would annoy people, but it doesn't bother me too much. Combat is extremely basic, so I don't feel like I'm losing out on that much when my troops vanish at the end of every chapter.
If there is one thing I genuinely enjoy about the game, it's the music. It's hands-down the best part of the game, if you ask me.

Overall, this is a pretty good game. It's not without it's bugs (nearly every time I had a quest item already in inventory when I happened to talk to someone who would give me a quest for that object, it bugged out on me), and it's very difficult to tell where you can and cannot pass on the map at times, but that aside, this feels like it incorporates a lot of the best elements of games like Heroes of Might and Magic Series and Mount and Blade (the map is certainly very reminiscent of the second).
The game is entertaining, the story is good, and the combat is satisfying. Learning curve is a bit steep and there are some bugs, but over all, I give this one a thumbs up.
