Fantasy General 2: Invasion
Fantasy General II: Invasion is the return of a strategy classic from the 90s! Fight exciting turn-based 3D tactical battles leading a variety of fantasy units, heroes and creatures, level them up and carry them over from one scenario to the next. Vanquish your enemies through a combination of military might, guile and magical prowess. Play through a 33 scenarios campaign, or take it to skirmish, either against the AI or in multiplayer. Or take advantage of the built-In scenario editor to make your own battles. Three hundred years have passed since the Shadow Wars have ravaged Keldonia and the world of Aer, and the struggles of the past have long since faded into legends. In the Highlands of Fareach, Clans of Barbarian warriors have eked out a living in the harsh northern climate, constantly feuding with each other and raiding the wealthier Borderland towns. Fed up with these constant attacks, the Borderland Clans called on the Empire for help – a powerful realm controlling the land from the Scarlett Mountains to Cynehelm Valley and the Hoarwood. The Western Imperial Legion was sent to face the highland raiders, and with the help of the Borderland clans Iseal and Machnar, killed High King Brendan in the battle of Wyrm’s Pass.

Not as complex as the old Fantasy General I but has a similar feel to it. The combat is nothing special and much easier than the old FG but the 50 hour long barbarian campaign has a well made storyline and cool units.
I recommend it if you like turn based combat.

It's hard but satisfying. Most of the negatives are about difficulty but I beat the game without looking anything up or getting stuck for too long. Give it 10 missions before you make a judgement on the game because there is some depth to upgrades and such that are not apparent early on.
The game drops a lot of clues on how to be successful but doesn't hold your hand.
I actually appreciate a game that will give you pause, make you think about your move carefully and at times will need to restart the mission and adapt a different strategy. It's a tactical puzzle and it needs to be approached that way. Your units are not overly expendable, you need to mindful of damage and healing.
I actually really liked the way the story was presented and the missions felt like they had purpose. A lot of in mission events and dialogue keeps you engaged. A lot of different choices to make and different routes to choose so you do feel like you're in control.

An excellent update and remake that preserves the spirit and fun of the original. They should make a fantasy general 3!

Amazing game, loved every hour of it and I didn't even played much of the DLCs, sticking mostly to the original campaing it realeased with. Just wish there was more fantasy here, like Fantasy General 1 times more, since I don't like themes of general united empire/industrialisation in games. But alas, still a good game.

Love this game. Challenging, tactical, requires thought. Perfect alternative to fast twitch shoot em ups.

What can I say about this game?
I took it, because of "nostalgic feeling" for the previous game. The changes that happened here looks... logical:
- "Resting time" is much less "annoying" as it was in FG1 (there, you must CHASE any unit EVERY turn, since healing is INSTANT the moment there is no my unit in closer proximity).
- "Mana limit" has "plot reason" behind it.
- "Finite resources" needed for units upgrades, looks pretty logical too. Since they are BARBARIANS with not much of proper PRODUCTION.
— Story looks interesting, and looks like there would be plenty of "surprises" on the way. BUT, but, I got the feeling, that this game is merely PART of it, and in order to feel the WHOLE story, I must get the rest of "additions" to the game :(
Looks like I will have to wait for discounts on those updated too...

Decent successor to the juwel from the 90s. If you like challenging turn-based strategy games you can dive into it.
