Etherborn

Etherborn is an elegant leap in the gravity-puzzle genre an environmental puzzle platformer built on exploring and understanding gravity-shifting structures. You are a voiceless being that has just been born into a world where a bodiless voice awaits your arrival. As your first thoughts emerge, you realise your journey has just begun. You experience gravity perpendicular to the surface you are standing on, allowing for creative exploration possibilities in environments carefully crafted as navigation-based puzzles. Travel through beautiful and exotic sceneries where each level is an organic puzzle that you need to explore, manipulate and shift your gravity on in order to decipher the way forward.

I do recommend Etherborn with a caveat on the pricing. Let‘s get the negative stuff out of the way first: in my opinion, the game is significantly overpriced. It took me less than 4 hours to 100% the game including all achievements, around 2.5 hours in my first playthrough and a little over 1 hour for the +levels with higher difficulty. For a price of 16.99€ that simply is not enough!
However, the game itself is beautifully done and was a joy to play through. The premise is simple: collect objects in an Escher-like surrounding to proceed to the next level. Yet the level design makes it challenging enough to get to these items and the difficulty gradually increases. I encountered one or two real head scratchers in my first playthrough. There are five puzzle worlds including the tutorial world that gets you acquainted with the puzzle mechanics.
Visuals, music, and controls all blend together seamlessly and I quite liked the stylized graphical approach. But at times it can be a bit tedious to direct the avatar in a particular direction with the everadjusting camera perspective. Yet that was a minor nuissance.
So, if you do not mind the high price by all means go for it. Otherwise I suggest you wait for a sale to grab this gem of a spatial orientation puzzler.
