Looking through my Library Gaming List i was searching randomly for a Game that catches my interest.
And i found what i was looking for.
You should know that i´m a very big Fan of Walking Simulators and also Games with amazing Storytelling.
Games like VALLEY, PARADISE LOST and ENDERAL took me under their spell.
So does this Game.
Welcome to DRAUGEN!
DRAUGEN takes place in the 1920´s and leads you to a small village in Norway, called Graavik.
You are searching for your Sister and are accompanied by your Ward Alice or just Lissy.
And here the Adventure begins.
When i started that Game i didn´t read about the Story or something on the Shoppage.
I started completely blind and that was the right decission.
Why? Because that was an amazing Experience.
So, because of major Spoiler and giving you the Chance to start it blind like me,
i will tell nothing more about the Story.
DRAUGEN is a first Person Walking Simulator, that gives you a little Freedom of exploring, but
opens a few places, when needed, not before.
The game pleasantly takes the player by the hand and guides him through it, not too easy, not too hard.
Normaly you walk alone in Walking Simulators, but not here.
In DRAUGEN your ward Alice (or Lissy) is always by your side. She is having conversations with you and
you can start them with her. That was something really new for me and i absolutly like it ... her. ^^
DRAUGEN has amazing atmospheric Graphics and a fantastic Soundtrack. That goes also for the normal Sound Effects.
And not to forget about the Voice Actors, they are amazing.
What can i finally say.
DRAUGEN is really fascinating. I enjoyed the Game and was catched from it since the first Minute.
The Story is very exciting and i was totally captivated by it.
Looking at the negative Reviews i can say that i understand why, because the Story does not answer every Question, but it leaves Room for your own
suggestions and answers, what i really like. DRAUGEN is a short but intense Game.
So if you like Walking Simulators and want to experience a charming companion inside a mystery Story
in a wonderfull Norway Setting, then this is for you.
Thank you for reading.

On the whole I would recommend this game for the intriguing story, the general atmosphere/vibe, and quite honestly, its brevity. As many walking sims before it, it tells a neat little story through found objects and exploration, all while it keeps you pretty much on rails so that you can neither jump ahead nor miss a key moment. The companion character, Lissie, really sets the mood of the game and is what distinguishes this from other walking sims. By having a companion to talk to, Draugen can engage in a lot more exposition and draw out details of the protagonist, such as his history, the type of person he is, and what he is doing in a remote village in Norway, as well as the broader setting and period of the game (1923). The interaction with Lissie otherwise does such a good job at this that I visibly winced at the anachronism the moment I heard her call the protagonist a "Debbie Downer". If you have a few hours to spend and want to go through the story in a novel walking sim, I'd recommend Draugen.

A little story referencing the Norwegian folklore about draug/draugar or undead/reanimated corpses.
The game is set on a very beautifully crafted mining village called Graavik somewhere in Norway. The player, Adward Harden, together with his companion Alice, is looking for his long missing sister Elizabeth (or 'Betty'), because he has reasons to think she visited that place. Are things really as they seem? Well, that's for you to figure out. Best not to read any spoilers when diving into this game.
Although, game... it's more of an interactive story. A narrative. And very beautiful at that. But as for gameplay, there isn't really much to do except following the completely linear storyline to the point you can't even interact with certain objects till the story determines it's time to do so. I think it best compares with games like "What Remains of Edith Finch" or "The vanishing of Ethan Carter".
I had hoped there was a bit more to it though. Maybe some puzzles or some choices that really mattered. But none of that exists in this one. Still going to give it a thumbs up. Visuals, sound, music and voice overs area all top notch. It was a delight to walk through.

Draugen is first person mystery adventure game. As a sucker for anything mystery and thriller, i thoroughly enjoyed the game.
A psychological mystery meets the scenic Fjords of Graavik.
The Storytelling is on point through the well acted characters, Edward and lissie. Kept me hooked on the game and i was curious about the ending of story.
The soundtrack in this game is just phenomenal. It just captivate the player and gives the immersion.
Would recommend it for players who are looking for something slow paced and immersion.
