Different Strokes
Your friend, a conceptual artist, has invited you to their latest exhibition.
You enter expecting to see their art adorning the walls, but to your surprise, the VISITORS are the ones drawing the art — they’re even drawing over each other’s work! It’s up to you to protect the exhibition from being covered in artwork that is, intentionally or otherwise, truly awful.
Gameplay consists of:
– exploring the ever-expanding gallery
– painting your own artwork on blank canvases
– editing other player’s artwork
– rating completed artwork
All of the art exhibited in the game is 100% created and remixed and rated LIVE by other players. Yes, we host all of this art and load it in dynamically. We hope that you will choose to fix the (inevitable) unacceptable art!
In addition to the main gallery there is also a portal to the “gallery of the week”. Every week there will be a new gallery with a particular theme. The main gallery is pretty crowded so your art may have a better chance of standing out in the gallery of the week!
Paintings have a “share link” button that takes you to a web page you can use to share your work with other people outside of the game.
Player’s can optionally create a user account. When logged in, any paintings you create/edit will be marked with your username. Other players will be able to click on your username to see all the paintings you have created.
From the logged in screen you can see notifications when other players like your paintings and see how many total likes they’ve received.

It should be added to this game's description that an unintended side effect of this collaborative experiment is helping artists to overcome burnout.
I say this as a burnt out artist who is struggling to cope with drawing again after a tumultuous time of it. Often I'd think of my own artworks as being not good enough to show anyone, or that the act itself was worthless because it wasn't satisfying me. Then comes along Different Strokes. This game has cracked through my charcoal carapace and opened my tender pink self to drawing for fun.
It reminds me so much of how fun it was to draw as a kid. Being able to capture that feeling again of drawing something with the limited amount of pencils you had to make a picture that you wanted to show to your friends. Because hey look at how much fun I had making this! I used the tools I had and made something out of nothing! Look at these ideas, these pictures, these colours! Look at what you've made too! I love these imperfect drawings we're making together! I'm having so much fun with you too!
I feel so inspired walking through the galleries of people with all varying degrees of skill. People trying their best. Beginners showing off their first OCs. Experienced artists pushing the limitations to the very edge. They express themselves. They build on each other's ideas. They share. I love it, I love it all so much!
So if you're someone who likes drawing, and want to have a low-stakes experience where you can draw and not have to worry so much about it being Good or Perfect. This game is for you.

I recommend this game to anyone who likes to be creative! Although, there are some rather distasteful drawings and I wish that there was an option to report original works instead of just drawing over them because when you click "see original" It's usually profanity or flat out racist. Now, this isn't with EVERY drawing. There are actually some really good artist kicking about this game but there really needs to be an option to report original drawings.
