As someone who played hundreds of hours of the original Constructor, I must say that even if this game is not a perfect remake, it is one that honors the original game and improves it in many aspects.
Don´t be let down by the overall Neutral score, this is the result of an initial botched release (I was myself very disappointed), but the successive updates fixed all the big problems and improved the game enormously, to the point that now I consider the Neutral score unfair.
This game is Good!

Thanks for bringing this back and finishing the half-baked release!
It was a rough ride but you kept working on it until I can recommend this to the fans of old Constructor in the modern times.
We even manged to play few multiplayer games that ended by legit R-R-R-RAGE QUIT as opposed to game crashing like before ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
I wouldn't really recommend this cryptic rage-inducing micro-management nightmare with quirky interface to new players, but if you enjoyed it back in its times, grab this on sale and drown in nostalgia.

Pretty much the same as it was, just upgraded to modern standards in terms of graphics and controls. All the classic sound effects are there, familiar tenants with their problems and mannerisms. Even though i never understood what was going on in this game as a kid, i still loved this. It had some certain charm, maybe because the wacky tenants, or a gangster wielding a minigun was fun to me as a youngster.
--------------------For the old players--------------------
This is pretty much the exact same game, and i don't mind at all! It's everything that i've (and you have!) missed, if you're a returning player you can skip the tutorial and start right away, you know what to do. Graphics are just better, and gameplay is a lot smoother in general. This a great remake, don't waste your time with the original anymore.
--------------------For the new ones who aren't familar with Constructor--------------------
Instead of games like Cities skylines, simcity etc, we have an unique tenant in every house, they can either give birth to new ones or pay rent. This is the first problem, we need both money and people so balancing in this issue is a must right from the beginning. 5 different tenant classes, from the poor to the uberly rich elitists. There are no easy tenants, they are drunken hillbillies or pothead students in the beginning, and demanding rich people in the end complaining about the strangest things.
In addition to that, the council gives us tasks which have to be fulfilled, and depending on your selections, you can have up to 3 enemy towns messing up your businesses with gangsters, hippies, burglars and few other undesirables who can all perform 4 different actions to cause harm. Of course, you can mess up their towns as well (and you should) to keep them from winning the game.
Planning your layout is pretty basic by today's standards. We can only do rectancle or square lots, but the decorations make up for it. We have trees, garden gnomes, sheds and others to sprinkle at the yards. All of you aesthetic-enthusiastics also have something to do here. Just keep in mind that this isn't Simcity, or cities skyline. It's still way more than your average RTS.
We have a few game modes featuring different goals, gaining enough money in a set amount of time, an all out war, utopian state (all residents happy) and of course a free build. Unfortunately, not many maps but they're all diverse, with increasing challenge levels in available land, forcing you to advance agressively and fast. Hopefully we get more as a free update. Hard-difficulty really is hard. You will have problems even on normal.
I haven't tested out the multiplayer yet, so this is purely done based on the SP-experience
This is a day one review everything has worked for 5 hours straight (yep, i've played it a lot already!) no bugs encountered. FPS stays at 60 on 1920x1080.
Should you buy it?
ABSOLUTELY! The fun characters, many ways to play and many different things to try encourage replayability, good graphics and smooth gameplay, wacky tenants that you will not find in any other game and sending a killer clown to wreak havoc in your neighbouring town is something that not many other games offer.

Constructor, where construction meets corruption.
The game has all the charm, comedy and charisma of the original 1997 version (including that awesome decorating soundtrack).
All of the bugs and hiccups from the old game have been fixed but it's the improvements that I need to talk about. Everything has been overhauled.
The graphics are super polished, the mechanics of the game are awesome. Improved is an understatement on that one.

This is the kind of game that we have been missing for years while suffering though games that wanted to be great builder game but never really made it.
I'm writing this review after finishing the Missions which were recently added (for free I shall add) and they were so epic. They took that comedy and charm from my earlier
comment and just took it further. It's a whole new constructor and was way better than I expected.
If you like city builders, construction games, strategy games, RTS games or more importantly if you ever enjoyed the original this is something you need to look at. It's certainly worth a buy.
Upon this review it's worth 182 beers but I'll be playing it more as they have a leaderboard system and multiplayer.

What to say about this game? Well, to start with some points here:
The game is a remaster of the original game Constructor launched in 1997, it presents remastered elements as well as the original units sounds presented back there.
There is new things in this version such as new buildings and even a mission mode that will be released in the future, those missions are like in Mob Wars (Street Wars) in where you need to execute specific things in order to win the map.
Although some of the reviews are negative, saying the game has bugs, the multiplayer doesn’t work or something else, the devs team are constantly working in bringing updates and fixes for those things that can break the game.
Yes, I have tested the multiplayer myself, from the launch day to the actual day of this review, and I say that there was a huge update to it, they fixed many problems and even made it flow really smooth for those that have a low-connection speed.
There is additional packs, like the building ones, that add extra structures that can be used in both SP and MP games. Some says those packs are expensive or not even fair, yet I must say that for what the packs offers the price is quite right.
So far this is what I think of this remaster, it’s really incredible how they made it and even adapted to some actual things of our time, keeping the dark humor of the game. For those that don’t know the previous and original game from 1997, Constructor is a game in which you build up houses to progress in the town, you start by constructing a lumber yard and then with wooden houses, their tenants can be used to generate rent or their special breeds, in this case, workers. You can only build with a foreman and workers, a foreman can have 5 workers with him, the more the merrier and faster productions means you can stay ahead of your competition. Each type of tenant have a different type of special breed and they can also give you a special advantage, starting from Tier 3 tenants, for example the Nerds, once you get your third Nerd tenant, those will be special, talented, and will negotiate reduced bank interest rates for you in case you take a loan. You can play against the computer as well, and if you do you might need to use the cops to stop their undesirables from robbing you, picketing you or even making a party at your houses. But if you like the mafia then the Mob might help you, by building a Mob HQ you can hire Gangsters, they can kill anyone you order as long as you have the bribe for them (hint: tier 3 tenants have this special breed), oh and don’t forget they have weapons too! Starting from a knife, each kill they make don’t only take away a bribe of yours but also makes them progress in a weapon system that can allow you to buy better weapons such as pistols and shotguns, going to the ultimate weapon, the laser gun. Slowly you progress not only through the buildings but also you start to get more things to work with, like the gangsters, the more you build what is in a certain tier of the material the more you’ll unlock, this also includes the undesirables, a bunch of bad guys that will make the life of the enemy (and their tenants) harder, for example the hippie, he can occupy an empty house and stay there for a good time, making it unable to be rented by the enemy tenant, or you can use him to picket a enemy Brickyard, rendering it unable to produce anything, like a protest you see.
The game might be hard at start due to how things flow, yet if you can give the time to learn it’s mechanics then you’ll be in the right square, it takes some tries but I can guarantee to you that this is a good transition from the good ol’game, from 1997 to 2017.

Brings back child hood memories! Better game now than it was on launch!

Easily recommended for the occasional trip down memory lane for those who love this unique genre.
The devs started horribly but they kept working on the game and being very active. Kudos.
I will tackle some of the frequent reasons for downvoting:
>Get the 1997 version
The 1997 version lacks good keybinds, and the old res plus graphics are a pain to bear. Unless you were hiding in a cave away from modern concepts of gaming, this version is -yes- even better than the old one (it sucked during release though, I give you that)
>Game is unplayable, crashes, freezes
The issue is local. The .exe has no problems, maybe it isn't optimized for every system out there but I've tried it on 3 different machines and it works flawlessly.
>Waste of money
One of the things I can maybe agree with. The basic price IS expensive, I waited till it got on big sale, then it was worth it.
>Too much micromanagement
The first tag for the game is 'strategy'. Complaining about micro in strategy games is like complaining about luck of the draw in card games. That's just how the genre is. If you don't like that, it's not the game's fault. There are strategy games with WAY worse micro than this one and you can even pause here to issue commands if you're too slow
Personally, my complaint is it's too easy to beat, you can crush the HARDCORE original difficulty with a few basic cheese strats and he AI is a bit stupid and very predictable.
Other than that, it's a lovely game.
