Disclaimer: I am old lol.
Found this on sale here for $19, and to ME,,,,, it was worth every single penny. I specifically purchased it because of the bots. I am almost 59 years old and have not played an FPS online since Return to Castle Wolfenstein, (which was a complete gas in itself. ) I really feel that all the COD series was actually inspired by RTCW. ID software did not innovate and let the game deteriorate but those lobbies were full for many years. Back in those days, there was not a kazillion multiplayer games like there are now. So the player base was constantly filled up. ID software started a sequel, enemy territory, but they eventually abandoned it and gave it out for free as a DLC and it was kinda lame. Yes there was always counter strike, but that was an entirely different animal.
Moving on,,,,this game allowed me to warm up quite a bit with the bots before launching into MP without getting anal raped,,,,, and I actually got fairly good at MP despite my age/reflexes slowing me down some. There are still lots of people playing this online which I was surprised about. Perhaps not every single mode/map, but it seems like shipment is always full, and that is almost my exclusive map to play on anyway. It is very small, as soon as you spawn you better start shooting and start jumping to get away from the grenades if you want to live more than 10 seconds. If your a high risk player who just likes the run and gun brainless shoot em up or jab/stab melee, death guts and carnage, this would be the map for you.
I only played half of the first mission on campaign so I cant comment on that,,,, it seemed decent the little bit I played it.
There are days I come home from work and just load up the local play and add bots and shoot out my frustrations,,,, sometimes I play online,,,,, just depends on my mood. But this has become my go to game,,,,,, simple and easy. And it runs well on steam deck also. I would not pay more than $25 for the game though

I don't see what all the hate is about. I'm really pleased with WW2; graphics are beautiful, gameplay is excellent. COD games always come out with a bunch of negative reviews because of course there will be some bugs and glitches. Yes, the MP servers were down a lot the first few days, but now they're fine. There are a few other annoying things, like getting kicked back to the main screen after a match is over, but those will be fixed. The thing to focus on is whether or not you like the gameplay. There's no double jumping or jet packs, no lasers in space - it feels very gritty and real, and not everyone will enjoy that, but I sure do.
