Heads Will Roll: Downfall
Full version. More adventures!
the GameHeads Will Roll: Downfall is a combination of a tactical role-playing game and visual novel, in which you will assume the role of a medieval soldier. One of the thousands of faceless foot soldiers the English king sent to put down a rebellion in Scotland.
As an accidental participant in this war, the protagonist and the player will have to confront a variety of dangerous situations, meet good friends and deadly opponents, as well as make many difficult decisions along the way.
The combat system in Downfall is a reworked and improved version of Heads Will Roll. Turn-based tactical battles will challenge the player to carefully consider each action he takes. Physical attributes, weapon skills, fatigue, wounds, injuries, armor coverage, weapon type and length – each of these factors contributes to the outcome of any battle to one degree or another, giving any battle a greater tactical depth.
The story revolves around a young soldier who gets into war in an attempt to hide from justice for a crime that he did not commit. He has a deadly adventure in store for him and a chance to wash away the dirt off his reputation with blood so as to return home no longer a fugitive but a hero… Or remain missing on endless battlefields.
Who said there is no romance in war? You will have to choose between feelings and duty more than once while fighting not only for gold and but also for a beautiful girl who is determined to win your heart.
The loot found on the battlefield can be used to craft new items, such as poisons, medicines, pieces of equipment, and different kinds of crossbow bolts.
Dozens of authentic medieval weapons including swords, spears, axes, throwing daggers, and crossbows. All of them have distinct characteristics, attacks, and principles of work, based on certain characteristics of each character. There are strengths and weaknesses to each weapon that needs to be considered in order to win the battle.
Every action the player takes will affect his reputation with his brothers-in-arms and key characters. Get the respect of your comrades and they will help you more than once. Make a mess of your relationship with them and you’ll be alone in the middle of an army.

Its a F4P game and is only a introduction game for HWRR. That being said, it is not completely polished and all of the effort to correct problems went towards HWRR. It is exciting and a Permanent Death with experience points given to the player on the next evolution. It takes multiple deaths and restarts to finally accomplish any kind of skills and unlock Achievements. Its takes place during the Scottish-English War prior to the 100 Years War.
Hey! Its free! You like it or don't like it. You like it, buy HWRR and prepare to ive up your house, your job, your marriage and kids, because you won't have time for them while playing.

Only posting because I'm annoyed seeing the mixed reviews. The game is good - brilliant, even, especially since this is a free demo of the main game (Heads will Roll). Most of the people leaving bad reviews simply haven't played the game long enough to reach the main roguelike portion of the game.
This game takes about 10 hours to beat, with an extra 10 if you want to round out all the achievements and get 100%. It's a tough roguelike that is punishing at first, but gets easier as you repeat and gain more points to put into the character creation.
Advice: Play on 'Heads Will Roll' difficulty, as it lets you manually create your character, and gain points to re-input into the character creation. The only drawback is that you can't save, but the game is short enough (especially at lower levels) that that won't be much of an issue. Early game, focus putting points into 'Agility', followed by strength, and the weapon type you'll be using for that run. Buy gear with the manual character creator too - as it can really help push runs and get more points later on in game.
That's all you need to know! If you play the game and still don't like it, don't quit after an hour or two and leave a nasty review - the game deserves a 'overall good' rating, not 'mixed'.

got this for free so no complain there...
game wise at the period i play it was already well build just some bug about old halberd instead of the pole arm build it always switch to Axe build. the armor crafting is annoying real annoying. cause getting 2 armor is not all diff armor might have lesser penalty then some but not recommended as - 9 stats does't make u invulnerable it might even be the reason why u lose.

I understand why this game has a Mixed rating, but I think it has much more to with expecting the game to be something it's not than the game actually being bad.
Part of it definitely is some unintitutive systems and non-obivous options and if you don't want the experience of figuring all that out for yourself, then you should definitely check out the Steam guides or YouTube videos.
But the main point is that this game is a roguelite. Your initial runs are going to suck, because the point is leveling up your profile with every death so each new character is a little bit better and can go a little bit further in the story. This means that there will be a time investment before you can start having success and if you're not interested in putting in that time then you should skip this game.

Great Game for those that like challenges and this game has interesting format:
- First of all play of highest difficulty "Heads Will Roll"
- Level up your Profile by getting experience
(Tips: Try to stay alive and complete many chapters as you can for most exp and don't fight
unnecessary battles too much on low level at start)
- Focus on Agility ( max it each time) mostly then Strength and Endurance are equally
important.
- Remember you not a fighter you just a wretched merchant
- Fatigue very important this game try your best to not get tired early in fights
- The Game is all about patience when fight starts try your best to preserve your fatigue and
don't continue attack as enemy get tired then attack.
